Saturday SOS
This is the big day at SOS Fest. Not that there aren’t great bands on Friday or Sunday, just that this is 12+ hours of music. My feet are tired but my ears want more.
Before I talk about Saturday, I’ve got to ask you to check on my Googling skills. Now, I know it’s a busy weekend, but I actually can’t believe I’m not finding any other Edmonton news coverage, at all,...

Come say hi, you don’t have to buy anything, I’m not a car salesman.
– Manuela - asking people to stop by and chat after her set at the Savoy, Friday night at SOS Fest, with no pressure to buy her new album.

Samantha Schultz →
Samantha Schultz played Original Joe’s Varsity Saturday night, part of a duo of young folk-pop stars. She plays with passion, but she can also sing so softly that you need to lean forward in your seat. And you will, because you want to hear what that lovey voice is saying.
She’s also great on the guitar, fingers flying throughout her songs. She’s folky, with Norah Jones-like...

Change of plans at wunderbar
Touch it and you will say ow is going on now (midnight) not at 1!
If you only see one band tonight... →
…then might I suggest you head to Wunderbar just before last call and see “Touch it and You Will Say Ow!” (along with Plainclothes and sKin). We’ve seen them on a couple of occasions and I promise you, they’re worth staying out late for.
SOS on the street →
Saw this guy busking. And Ky’s playing Bscene tonight. Great bluesy rock.
Manuela
She’s folky, fun, and fiery. Music is full of people with guitars singing songs that mean something, but Manuela’s got a voice you want to listen to. I mean that in terms of her actual voice and the words she’s singing.
Her show at the Savoy had some technical glitches but she can sing without a microphone and a little feedback can’t hurt a good song.
You...
Boy and GurL talk about coming up from Calgary for SOS Fest.
(I apologize for not knowing to move away from the microphone.)

Our friends at Old Ugly Recording Company can be found in 2 locations this afternoon: Wunderbar (8120 101 St.) and the Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre

Jay wanted to know what a Boy and Gurl show would be like. So I asked some experts. Boy and Gurl.
Forestry →
Not the easiest band to Google (since forestry is a real industry) this alt-country band from B.C. is fun as heck.
Dead Ghosts →
I like garage, and I like Nic Armstrong and the Thieves so I think I’m going to like Dead Ghosts.
Manuela →
I’m going to post links of bands and artists I’m interested in checking out, or have seen at SOS Fest (once it starts). First up, a lady on my list of locals for #YegSwap.
